It was like clockwork after 10 Pm struck on Friday November 30th as the much awaited Afro Chique theme came to life. The red carpet ushered in dignitaries of Accra’s party elite for another memorable Mirror Ball at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.
“This is the renaissance age” screamed the outfits of hundreds of the most elegant ladies and fine gents as the dancing got underway in the Damba 3 Lounge.
Wax prints, batiks, embroidered linens and other fabrics with an African touch made a good representation of our locally flavoured couture. The venue was well chilled on arrival and not a bead of sweat raised its head as the fantastic voyage of sound was underway till dawn.
Smooth transition upon transition ushered the way for tracks of old musical gems as DJ Blow steered affairs.
One has come to expect no less in terms of standard and ambience over the year and flawless execution remains the benchmark of the organisers who strive to ensure that each event leaves a sweet and memorable effect.
“It is the least we owe to ourselves as organisers and more importantly to our guests, to guarantee no less a premium experience each last Friday of the month” said Edwin Baffour of TAGTEAM.
The Purchasing Manager for La Palm Mitsui Odjidja presented one of the guests, Lois Nortey with a dinner voucher for two for being the best dressed female in a local creation inspired by classic wax print complete with a matching handbag while a male guest, Gibson was judged the best dressed gentleman. He also enjoying a dinner for two at his choice of one of the four restaurants at La Palm.
The best dressed couple, Dr. & Mrs. Derban, won a well-deserved complimentary night for two with dinner and breakfast inclusive in one of the plush rooms overlooking the Atlantic.
In December there will be two Mirror Ball events on the 21st and 31st respectively. These traditionally are well attended events especially since the visiting ‘Old school” fanatics from the diaspora enjoy the world class ambience with the rare chance of reliving the good old days in the company of the same buddies!
The next event on December 21st is themed “Fire & Ice”, complimenting the festive season. The ladies will sizzle in hot red while the gents balance things out in cool white attire.
Hopefully the results of the general election would have been announced and the 21st event will be a perfect chance to officially begin the countdown to the end of the year celebrations, while the 31st event crowns will set off the New Year spinning in style.
Advance tickets can be purchased at the front desk of La Palm Royal Beach Hotel for 35 cedis.
